About BeInsane...

BeInsane is a semi-port of "Insane Game", a relatively obscure puzzle game popular on some TI calculators and Linux boxes. This BeOS version supports both "puzzle mode" and "action mode," for two distinct modes of play. This is my third major BeOS project.

How to play the game...

The idea of the game is to remove as many pieces from the screen as possible. You can move the cursor around the screen with the arrow keys or the mouse, and remove pieces by pressing a mouse button or hitting enter or the space bar. You can remove any group of pieces with at least two pieces of the same type next to each other (horizontally or vertically), and when you click to remove the piece, all pieces of the same type that are connected to that piece horizontally or vertically are also removed. After the pieces are removed, the rest of the pieces on top of them cascade down. The more pieces you remove at once, the more points you get (the number grows exponentially.)

In puzzle mode, you have a full screen of pieces at the start, and you keep removing them until there are no pieces with neighbors of the same type. The object is to organize them so you remove a large number at once to get a maximum number of points.

In action mode, you start with half a board of pieces, and new pieces are added to the board constantly. The pieces are added at an increasing rate, and you keep playing until they eventually fill up the entire board and you lose. Again, the object is to organize the pieces so you can remove a large number at once for maximum points.
