D3tag v0.9b
Made by Pieter Panman (ppanman@dds.nl)

--= What is it? =--
This is a user friendly id3 tagger for BeOS, based very partially from the ideas of a command line program, called ID3ren. It can retrieve and save information about an mp3 file, so you know what you are listening to. It is my first attempt to a serious BeOS application. (apart from "HelloWorld")
You can look at the source code, but for now it is quite an offensive piece of code. Don't expect to learn much from it.

It is not completely bugless, but it has not destroyed any of my mp3s yet. It is still BETA, so don't blame me on whatever it does wrong. Please inform me of other bugs not listed in the buglist below.

--= Running it =--
It will run just fine from anywhere. Just double click on the executable in the bin directory.

--= Known bugs =--
- When it is displaying messages, it does not redraw the main screen. I'm looking into that. (somebody help me??)

--= Version history =--
v0.9b First public release.

--= Planned improvements =--
This version is extremely simple and does not do too much. I hope to get a bugless version out, to Be v1.0.
A very good id3 tagger for windows is ID3master, which has loads of features that can tag many files at once, convert names-tags, etc. I see this as a challenge to create something like it for BeOS.
I plan on making mine very advanced, but that will probably come after my exams.
It would feature these things (very preliminary)
- Selecting multiple files and applying only the items that are ticked (like only artist, album, year and genre for an entire CD)
- Doing a Filename - ID3 conversion
- Whole album tagging feature
- Whatever you people may think is useful

--= Suggestions? =--
Please mail me if you have anything you would like to say about my program. Positive or negative comments, as long as they are constructive.

--= Thanks =--
to the id3ren program for providing me with the list of genres and ideas:
- Robert Alto (badcrc@tscnet.com)
- and a BeOS port by Shayne White (shayne@curvedspace.org)
Actually, I found another list in html, but I was too lazy to merge that into my program.
