3. GAMEPLAY INSTRUCTIONS

Since Dude falls in the Pipe for the first time his adventure begins in a new strange world. At first, it would be well to look around a bit.

  1) Your main instrument is a computer mouse with its buttons. With a help of the mouse you can control Dude's activities: clicking in a certain place with the left mouse button gives Dude specified instructions. The cursor's appearance will prompt to you if Dude is able to perform any action in the specified point. There can be found the following types of the cursors in the game:

    - "Foot". Means that Dude either can not perform any action or just can only go to the specified place.
    - "Hand". If the cursor assumes a shape of hand, it means that Dude can operate here with his own hands. Perhaps his hands must not be empty, so it would be well to take some item.
    - "Foot with an Arrow". If you see such cursor on a pipe, it means that Dude can crawl into this pipe. In long rooms with a help of "Foot with an Arrow" you can point to Dude to go right up to the end of the room.
    - "Hand with an Item". Dude took an item in his hands and is looking for a place where it can be used.
    - "Hand is about to release an Item". If the cursor assumes such shape, it means that the item can be used right here and right now and perhaps to no purpose.
    - "Down Arrow". Dude will gladly jump here.
    - "Left Arrow" and "Right Arrow". Dude can bend aside to perform a throw, a blow or other dynamic moves.

You should notice that during some important events Dude won't follow your directions till the end of the event.

  2) Moving the cursor to the upper part of the screen you can view the contents of Dude's knapsack (Inventory). Dude will take an item in his hand if you click on it with a mouse.

  3) In the right upper corner of the screen you can find a Map. This is the item which Dude always keeps to himself. Clicking on the Map's icon you will able to explore the scheme of rooms which Dude has already visited.
To roll up the Map just use the right mouse button, Tab or Esc buttons.

  4) On Dude's path there can occur some obstacles, the so-called "Arcades", to overcome which Dude will need a little knack. In such a case the controlling can be carried according to the following breakdown:

    - It is needed to press a given item at a given time.
    - It is needed to click on Dude with the mouse (the cursor will change to "Left Arrow" or "Right Arrow") and then, holding down the mouse button, move the cursor for a little distance (Dude will bend aside or aim a blow) and release the button.
    - It's quite enough just to click with the left mouse button on any place of the screen. In such a case Dude will perform some dynamic move.
    - It is needed to click with the left or right mouse button on any place of the screen. Depending on the pressed button Dude can perform various operations.

  5) In addition to mouse you will need a keyboard to control the game.

F1: shows a hint with a description of cursors and action buttons.
Esc: if you click on this button at the beginning of the game then you will get to Main Menu.
Space: you can fix the upper panel, so you will always see the contents of Dude's knapsack.
Tab: press it to view the Map. To roll up the Map just use the right mouse button, Tab or Esc buttons.
Alt+Enter: switch between full-screen and windowed mode of the game.

4. MAIN MENU AND OPTIONS

You can control the gameplay from here.

"Save": you can save your current game. Select an entry on the Saving Page and click on it with the left mouse button. Your current game will be saved. "Empty" means that an entry is vacant yet. Otherwise an entry contains the date and time of saving. If you click on used entry then its content will be deleted and replaced by your current game.
"Load": load a previously saved game.
"Authors": here you can find those, who took part in origination of Full Pipe.
"Resume game": you can come back to your current game.
"New game": all your adventures will be started de integro.
"Egression": you can quit the game clicking on this button.

At the left of the icons of "Treble clef" and "Loudspeaker" small screws for music controlling are bolted. The first one adjusts music volume and the second controls the volume of other sound effects. You can move screws with a mouse.

5. COMMAND LINE OPTIONS.
